Reasons for Prohibition Furacillin is a synthetic antibacterial agent, which can treat livestock diseases. It was widely used in animal husbandry and aquaculture a few years ago. Later, it was found that the residues of nitrofuran drugs "furacilin and furazolidone" and their metabolites in animal-derived foods can be passed on to humans through the food chain. Long-term intake will cause various diseases and have side effects such as carcinogenesis and teratogenesis. The United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore and the European Union all explicitly prohibit the use of such drugs in the food industry, and strictly implement the detection of nitrofuran residues in aquatic products. Furacillin is listed as a banned drug in China. It was listed in the first batch of local standards for abolishing veterinary drugs (Announcement No.560th of the Ministry of Agriculture).

Prohibited animals: all food animals.
