Since the reform and opening up, successive party and government groups in Mazhu Township have attached great importance to the development of flower and seedling industry, and have successively established flower associations and various flower cooperatives. Large flower growers and marketing professionals are constantly emerging, and flower production is gradually moving towards specialization and commercialization. In 2000, Mazhu Township was named "Hometown of Camellia oleifera in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the flower and seedling industry in Ma Zhu flourished.

Brand is the vitality of industry. Thanks to the efforts of Mazhu Township Flower Association, "Ma Zhu" brand camellia won the title of Jinhua famous brand product in May 2006 and "Zhejiang famous brand product" in June 2008. Qian Ruihua introduced that "Ma Zhu Brand" is a trademark, which itself contains many varieties of camellia, both local varieties in Jinhua and imported from other places. At present, many camellia buyers only look for the title of "Golden Flower" and "Ma Zhu Brand", which has formed a certain word-of-mouth effect in the market.
