FNP-40 pistol, like FN powerful pistol, adopts the working principle of short recoil barrel and barrel offset locking mechanism. However, the two guns appeared in different times and had different design ideas, from material selection to structural design.

FNP-40 adopts polymer sleeve seat, and the sleeve and barrel are made of stainless steel. The sleeves also have a blue surface treatment. The design of the sleeves is similar to that of a "40-9" pistol. The FNP-40 pistol uses a 0.40 inch S&; W bullet, total gun length 188mm, barrel length 102mm, total gun height 137mm, total gun width 39mm, total gun mass 0.76kg.

The working principle of the firing mechanism is similar to that of Czech CZ75 pistol, and the trigger link keeps the hammer in a ready state. The trigger force of double action is 44N, and that of single action is 25 N. There are two iron blocks, and the iron block on the right makes the hammer in a semi-ready state.

The magazine capacity is 14 rounds. Manual safety and magazine buckle can be set on the left and right sides of the gun, which is the same as BDA9 pistol, which is convenient for left-handed people to use.

There is a universal picatinny rail below the front end of the sleeve seat, and the production serial number of the factory is engraved on the bottom plate below the guide rail.

There is a 1 locking groove on the inner side of the sleeve, which is locked with the 1 locking bamboo shoot on the barrel to complete the locking. On the other hand, FN powerful pistol is locked by three locking bamboo shoots and three locking grooves.

FNP-40 has solid structure, good balance of the whole gun and smooth shooting operation. Its retail price is $575, which is a very moderate price.

At present, FNP series pistols have been used as standard pistols by Colombian police in South America and have been sold in the American market. FN's trademark makes users feel at ease, and this pistol has achieved good results when it was first listed. We will wait and see how many "gains" it will have in the military and police market.
