Can the trademark be authorized after it has expired?
Of course not. After the trademark expires, it shall apply for renewal of registration within 12 months before the expiration. Failing to apply within this time limit, a grace period of 6 months may be granted. If no application is filed within the grace period, its registered trademark shall be cancelled. After examining the application for trademark renewal registration, the Trademark Office will issue a trademark renewal certificate and will not issue another trademark registration certificate. The original Trademark Registration Certificate will be used together with the Trademark Renewal Certificate. Further reading: Can an invalid trademark be registered?
