Lion Tiger Mountain in Beijing Zoo was built in 1956, which is one of the landmark buildings of Beijing Zoo. In the era when cameras were high-end consumer goods in China, many people in the zoo took commemorative photos with the lion and tiger mountain as the background. The architectural decoration of Shihushan has a unique mountain structure. Visiting this building is like entering a mysterious cave. The passage connecting the outdoor playground and the indoor animal building is also designed in the form of a cave. This design not only has a good visual effect, but also can avoid the cold wind blowing directly into the hall in winter. Shihu Mountain is home to a variety of big cats, including African lions, white lions, Bengal white tigers and Siberian tigers. In the past, on holidays, breeders would put live chickens in cages to train the wildness of animals.
In 2009, a bronze sculpture of a tiger was erected on the north side of Shihu Mountain, which was created by the sculpture master Yuan for two years and named "Mountain King". The tiger is19.48m long, 9.18m high and weighs 30 tons. This is also the first large-scale animal sculpture in Beijing Zoo.

On the wall facing the glass wall, there is a background screen with a length of12m and a height of 4m. The garden uses the projection equipment hanging above the exhibition hall to show popular science films such as Arctic glaciers, northern lights and animals on the screen.
There is a pool for polar bears in the indoor exhibition hall, and there are two outdoor exhibition stadiums. The total storage capacity of the three pools is 500 cubic meters. In order to ensure water quality and save water, Beijing Zoo has set up three sets of water treatment systems to purify and recycle tap water, costing about 800,000 yuan.

The height of the outer oval fence is 3. 1 m, and the distance from the rockery to the fence is 5.9 m. On the north side of the fence, there is a space for monkeys to shelter from the wind and rain in bad weather. 1986 and 1993 repaired and rebuilt the monkey mountain twice, strengthened the rocks and provided water. Naughty and robust adult monkeys will leap from the monkey mountain from time to time. So a low-voltage power grid was set up along the wall, and according to the different reactions of monkeys to colors, red and white colors were painted on the power grid to arouse the vigilance of monkeys.
June 5438+October 2006 10, due to the construction of the viaduct on Zoo Road, the outer wall of Monkey Mountain and the sightseeing platform were demolished, leaving only the original mountain. But the top of the mountain is still flat, and the height is inevitably affected. At this time, some monkeys were moved to temporary houses outside the west side of the amphibian and reptile museum.
In September 2009, the Old Monkey Mountain was rebuilt. Due to terrain, surrounding environment and other factors, it is impossible to restore the original appearance. There are independent animal halls, animal halls and indoor exhibition halls in the exhibition area, which are connected by indoor and outdoor tourist passages. The combination of animal display, popular science display and tourist interaction in the setting of tourist routes is presented to tourists in turn, which not only greatly improves the interest of tourists, but also increases the diversity of tourism forms.
