Yixing is located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, on the bank of Taihu Lake in the Yangtze River Delta, in the hilly and mountainous areas in the south, with lush forest vegetation and beautiful scenery. The north is a typical water town in Jiangnan Plain, a land of plenty. With dense river networks, numerous lakes, fertile land, connected pottery kilns, continuous bamboo seas, tea gardens and caves all over Shan Ye, it is known as "China Taodou" and "Cave World".

Yixing is blessed with natural resources, rich in mineral deposits, rich in bamboo and tea, and is one of the famous domestic tea producing areas in China. During the Tang Dynasty, it was stipulated that the purple bamboo tea which was paid tribute to Gong Yan was collected in Yixing every year. Yixing Taihua Mountain Area is the largest bamboo production base in Jiangsu Province, so it has the reputation of "Bamboo Sea". According to geologists' research, the caves in Yixing, the "cave world", were formed nearly 6,543,800 years ago, and are called "the first monument in the south of the Yangtze River" and "the wonders in the sea".

As early as 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, human ancestors invented and created pottery here. They made geometric printed hard pottery and primitive celadon, until fine purple sand pottery. In Yixing, there has always been a scene of "every family makes bricks, there are kilns everywhere, and there are pottery everywhere", so people call it "Tao Dou". Yixing is now one of the ceramic industrial bases in China, producing more than 7,000 varieties in 8 categories, including purple sand, jun porcelain, fine pottery, celadon, painted pottery, daily-use ceramics and industrial ceramics. Among them, purple sand, jun porcelain, fine pottery, celadon and painted pottery are known as the "five golden flowers" of Yixing ceramics. In particular, purple sand is also called "the flower of Du Tao". Purple sand products are unique in shape, supplemented by calligraphy and painting. They not only have high artistic value, but also have unique advantages as daily necessities. After making tea with purple sand teapot, the color, fragrance and taste are all good. The longer it takes, the smoother the color will be. Even if boiling water is poured into an empty pot, it will give off tea fragrance. The purple mud used to make purple sand is unique to Yixing, and it is deeply hidden in the soil under the rock layer.

There are a lot of granite, dolomite and quartzite in the hilly and mountainous areas in the south of Yixing, among which marble is famous for its excellent texture and abundant reserves. The main varieties of Yixing marble are brown, cream and black crystal. The color of red paste is known as "Yixing Rose" because it is beautiful as jade and red as peach. It is also known as the four famous brands of marble in China together with "Dandong Green" in the northeast, "Snowflake White" in Shandong and "Hanghui" in Zhejiang. It is praised as "the red rose of the East" by American businessmen.
