Driven by the tide of reform and opening up, Cangnan County is full of vitality. After several years of rapid development, the construction of characteristic industrial parks has achieved remarkable results. A number of leading industrial enterprises have risen rapidly, and the agglomeration effect of block economy has become increasingly prominent. It has formed an industrial economic system with printing, plastic weaving, textile, business gifts, food processing and instrumentation as the leading industries, and cultivated new industries such as furniture, stainless steel, ceramics, packaging materials, polymer fibers and medicine. The export-oriented economy has developed rapidly. In 2003, the total import and export volume was US$ 967 1 10,000, up by 89 1% year-on-year, of which the foreign trade export volume was US$ 65.65 million, up by 54.4% year-on-year, ranking first in the city.
The pace of agricultural industrialization has been accelerated, and a number of characteristic agricultural bases such as organic tea, mushrooms, four-season pomelo, horseshoe bamboo shoots, summer sleeping mats, fresh balao and herbivorous animal husbandry have been built. Mazhan, Yanpu and Guanmei were named as "Hometown of Four Seasons Pomelo in China", "Hometown of Porphyra in China" and "Hometown of Xi Cao in China" respectively. Marine fishing and aquaculture have grown steadily. In 2003, the output of aquatic products was 205,200 tons, with an output value of1109,000 yuan.
Infrastructure construction is advancing by leaps and bounds, and urban construction is changing with each passing day. Over the years, our county has implemented the strategy of "foundation first" and "key breakthrough", focused on water, electricity, roads and communications, increased investment, and basically built a basic platform for leap-forward development. The opening of the Cangnan section of the expressway takes only 40 minutes from Cangnan to Wenzhou and only 3 hours from Cangnan to Fuzhou. The preliminary work of Wenfu Railway has been basically completed, and the location advantage of Cangnan has become increasingly prominent. 104 National Highway Transit Highway, Jinlong Avenue and Huanhai Highway were successively built, and the highway mileage of the county reached 578.28 kilometers. Ounan Bridge, Lingjiang Shanhai Economic Cooperation Zone and Dayuwan Reclamation Project have started one after another, which will lay a good hard environment for Cangnan's economic development and opening up.
