Xinxiang City is located in the northern part of Henan Province, bordering the Yellow River to the south, across the river from the provincial capital Zhengzhou and the ancient capital Kaifeng; to the north is Taihang, adjacent to the coal city Hebi and the ancient capital Anyang; to the west is the coal city Jiaozuo, and It borders Shanxi to the southeast; Puyang, the oil city, to the east, and is connected to western Shandong. It is the third largest city in Henan, the economic, cultural and transportation center of northern Henan, and one of the Central Plains urban agglomeration cities.

The location of Xinxiang is very important. China’s 54th Army Group Headquarters is in Xinxiang

To the north is the Taihang Mountains and to the south is the Yellow River. Trains from north to south generally pass through Xinxiang to Zhengzhou.
