Shi Yuzhu, born on September 15, 1962 in Huaiyuan County, Bengbu City, Anhui Province, is a businessman and entrepreneur.
Graduated from the Department of Mathematics of Zhejiang University in 1984 and was assigned to work in the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Statistics. After graduating from the Department of Software Science (Department of Mathematics) of Shenzhen University in 1989, he immediately started his own business. In 1992, Zhuhai Giant High-tech Group was founded in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. In 1994, he invested in health care products. The first product was "Brain Gold". Later, due to the investment in the Giant Building, the capital chain was broken and he almost went bankrupt, with a debt of 250 million yuan. In 1995, Shi Yuzhu was listed as the eighth richest person in mainland China by Forbes. In 1997, the health product "Melatonin" was launched in Jiangsu and other places, which was a great success and was quickly promoted nationwide. On March 12, 2009, Forbes ranked Shi Yuzhu at No. 468 on the list of the world's richest people, with a value of US$1.5 billion, and No. 14 in mainland China. In 2012, he ranked 22nd in Fortune's list of China's 50 most influential business leaders.
In January 2016, Shi Yuzhu returned to Giant Network. On October 13, 2016, the 2016 Hurun Rich List was released, and the Shi Yuzhu family ranked 19th with a wealth of 54 billion yuan. On October 18, the 2016 Hurun IT Rich List was released, and Shi Yuzhu’s family ranked 11th with a net worth of 30 billion yuan. On October 27, the 2016 Forbes China Rich List was released, and Shi Yuzhu ranked 46th. On December 30, 2016, Shi Yuzhu returned to the board of directors of Minsheng Bank.
On May 20, 2017, on the eve of the 120th anniversary of the founding of Zhejiang University, Shi Yuzhu donated RMB 50 million to the Zhejiang University Education Foundation on behalf of Giant Group, which will be used to support the new building of the School of Mathematical Sciences of Zhejiang University Construction and contribute to Zhejiang University’s construction of a world-class university and first-class mathematics discipline.
