Last fall, BMW launched a series of M?Performance modification kits for the S1000RR. This is the first time BMW has launched it in a two-wheeled model. However, this seems to be just the first step. The concept will be expanded beyond A range of high-performance M models are planned, as the company has filed trademark applications for the names M1000RR, M1000XR and M1300GS.
BMW M (formerly BMW Motorsport) is a subsidiary that specializes in the production of high-performance versions of several models of the BMW plant. For example, the BMW M4 is a higher-spec version of the BMW 4 Series. Therefore, the three trademark applications submitted in Germany on June 18 will be converted into higher-spec versions of the three models: S1000RR, S1000XR and R1250GS.
Usually BMW manufacturers use the first letter to indicate the engine type.
"R" stands for BMW's horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine,
"G" stands for single-cylinder,
"F" stands for parallel twin-cylinder,
"S" stands for four-cylinder engine,
"K" stands for six-cylinder engine.
However, as far as these new trademark applications are concerned, BMW's M series refers to high-performance models and has slightly changed the rules of the carmaker's previous naming game for motorcycles.
What should we expect from these M Series models?
Take the M?Performance modification kit for S1000RR as an example. This kit includes special paint colors, carbon fiber wheels, lighter weight batteries, sports saddles and frame kits. The frame kit features adjustable rear seat height and adjustable swingarm pivot, as well as a Pro ride mode.
The M1000RR may just be a natural extension of the M package (perhaps a legitimate HP4), and the M1000XR will receive similar upgrades, creating a more premium S1000XR.
The M1300GS requires more consideration. Since the K1300R and K1300GT, BMW has not used the motorcycle name 1300, nor has it had the adventure model K1300GS. So this may mean that this model will be upgraded from the R1250GS, which may also imply that the displacement of this model will be increased in the future, but this engine with a displacement of 1254cc was only launched this year, so it is not very It may be changed again.
As with all trademark applications, there is no indication of how soon BMW will reveal plans for this M series of motorcycles, but given the importance BMW attaches to its M series, we are looking forward to it. Come and wait patiently.
