Slowly found that most people have a great misunderstanding about protein powder, especially the end products.
Recently, a big sister saw others drinking imported protein powder and bought it for her 5-year-old daughter. After hearing about it, I made it clear that it must be stopped.
For babies, protein powder is not a necessity, or even a necessity.
Children's height and intellectual development are influenced by many factors, and protein is only one of them, which cannot replace other nutrients. Too much protein powder may cause a serious burden on a child's tender kidney and liver.
Therefore, as long as children can eat normally, it is recommended to give priority to a natural diet, and there is no need to supplement protein powder, unless they are picky eaters or vegetarians and cannot get enough protein from their diet.
Personal suggestion/kloc-children above 0/0 can consider drinking protein powder.
Through chatting with many people, we found that people have a great misunderstanding about drinking protein powder, and more often they see others drinking it, so they bought it. As for what is in the protein powder, they basically don't care. Here I will give you a brief introduction of protein powder according to my own experience to help people who want to buy it as a reference.
First, the distinction between protein powder
There are three kinds of protein powder raw materials in the market: whey protein, soybean protein and pea protein.
1. Whey protein is a kind of protein extracted from milk, which has the characteristics of high nutritional value and easy digestion and absorption. It contains many active ingredients and belongs to animal protein.
Whey protein is divided into concentrated whey protein and separated whey protein. From the perspective of raw materials, the content of concentrated protein is about 80%, and some manufacturers will be as low as 70%; The content of separated protein is generally above 90%. Because of the difference of protein content, the price of separation is much higher than that of concentration. When shopping, you can choose according to your protein intake needs.
Whey protein belongs to animal protein, so vegetarians can't eat it, and because it comes from milk and belongs to allergenic food, people with lactose intolerance can't eat it.
2. Soybean protein is extracted from soybean and has high nutritional value. Protein is rich in "essential amino acids" and belongs to "high quality protein". It contains a unique physiologically active substance-isoflavones, and also has the function of lowering cholesterol.
According to the different content of protein, soybean protein can be divided into three types: 1) soybean protein powder, with protein content of 50-65%; 2) Soy protein concentrate with protein content of 65-90%; 3) Soybean protein isolate, with protein content above 90%.
Part of the particularity of soybean leads to certain risks in drinking soybean protein. There are many genetically modified soybeans, especially in China. Soybean itself belongs to high allergen food, and the allergic population is large. Soybean protein has high purine content and is not recommended for middle-aged and elderly people. Trypsin inhibitor, the original nutritional inhibitor in soybean, will lead to indigestion and flatulence (soybean protein isolate technology of some manufacturers can solve this problem). Soybean isoflavones, also known as phytoestrogens, affect hormone secretion, which is beneficial to elderly women, but easily leads to excessive estrogen secretion in men and girls.
3. Pea protein is extracted from pea, its nutritional value is second only to soybean protein in plant protein, and it contains essential amino acids needed by human body, and the ratio is appropriate. Pea itself has no transgene, allergen and estrogen, and its amino acid composition is similar to whey protein, and it does not contain cholesterol.
The protein content of pea protein is usually 80%-85%, but at present, it is not more than 90%. Pea protein isolate is pea protein.
Second, the difference between the final products.
At present, the nutrition market is chaotic, especially the protein powder market. Because of its strong reproducibility, many products are basically similar in efficacy.
When you buy a product, you should carefully observe four key elements:
1. Label name. According to the national standard, protein powder is changed to protein powder, and solid drinks must be added. If it does not meet the above two conditions, it basically belongs to unqualified products. Because of its particularity, imported products do not implement this standard, so in fact, the management of imported products in our country is far less than that of domestic products.
2. Table of nutritional components of products. Because when you buy protein powder, the first thing you care about is the content of protein. The protein content of high-quality end products is above 50%. If the content of protein is below 30%, there is basically no need to buy it. Soymilk and milk powder can generally reach this value.
3. Composition table. The quality of a product can be seen from the ingredient list, what protein is used and what ingredients are added.
4. Production license number. At present, the production license number is basically the number at the beginning of SC, and QS has faded out. If the protein powder you bought is still QS, it may be a small workshop.
Third, pay attention to the following points here, which may be harmful to you:
Silicon dioxide (also known as anti-caking agent), non-dairy creamer, acesulfame K, bean (milk) powder.
1. silica (anti-caking agent)
Food-grade silica is mainly used for food anti-sticking. Silicon dioxide will not be digested after entering the human body, but will be excreted with feces. If there is too much accumulation, stones may form. The maximum addition of solid beverage is 1.5%, which may cause harm to human body.
2.acesulfame K.
Acesulfame K is a synthetic sweetener. Regular consumption of foods containing excessive synthetic sweeteners will do harm to the liver and nervous system, especially to the elderly, pregnant women and children. If eaten in large quantities in a short time, it will cause thrombocytopenia and lead to acute massive bleeding.
3. Non-dairy creamer
Non-dairy creamer, also known as creamer, is a product with refined vegetable oil or hydrogenated vegetable oil and casein as the main raw materials. Hydrogenated oil contains more trans fatty acids. Trans fatty acids are not beneficial to human body, which can increase low density lipoprotein and decrease high density lipoprotein in human blood, induce arteriosclerosis and increase the risk of heart disease and cerebrovascular accident.
4. Bean (milk) powder
Bean (milk) powder itself is harmless to people, but the content of protein is low. In order to reduce the cost and improve the taste, many manufacturers add a lot of soybean (milk) powder, which is equivalent to selling soybean milk powder under the guise of "protein".
