Reasons for light steering wheel: 1. Power steering system failure. 2. The steering wheel has less booster oil. 3. The tire pressure of automobile tires is high. 4. The brake pad is stuck. 5. The suspension parts of the chassis are loose. 6. The rubber limit block fixed in the groove of the steering gear is seriously worn. 7. If the speed is too fast, you should slow down in time to avoid shaking or flashing, and even feel that the car's sense of direction is not in line with expectations when controlling. Except for problem 2, problem 3 and problem 7, you can handle them yourself, and you have to go to the repair shop for inspection and maintenance.
If the steering wheel doesn't feel light when you just bought the car, but it doesn't feel light until you use it later, then you need to go to the repair shop to check the steering wheel power steering system in time.
How to deal with the light steering wheel?
1. Power steering system failure: Common problems leading to power steering system failure include electronic component damage, excessive wear and oil leakage. The fault of the power steering system cannot be handled by individuals and non-professionals, and must be repaired by professionals.
2. High tire pressure of automobile tires: Under normal circumstances, high air pressure during inflation is caused by over-inflation. We can check whether the tire pressure of the car is higher than 2.2-2.5kpa, and the tire pressure standards of different models are different. We can check the operating instructions and explain the normal tire pressure. If the tire pressure is too high, just lower it to the standard.
3. The steering wheel has less power-assisted oil: there is less power-assisted oil, either because of oil leakage or because the power-assisted oil takes too long, resulting in too little power-assisted oil. At this time, we can add power-assisted oil, open the hood of the vehicle, find the adding port of steering wheel power-assisted oil, pay attention to the steering wheel logo on the cover of steering wheel power-assisted oil, or let the owner confirm it. If you still don't see it after using it for a while, you need to go to the repair shop for inspection and maintenance.
4. Brake pad stuck: There are many reasons for brake pad stuck, such as: brake pedal return spring is broken or lost, brake master cylinder is broken, brake cylinder is rusted, brake shoe supporting pin is rusted, gap between brake pad and brake basin is adjusted too small, brake pad return spring is broken or lost, brake oil is too dirty, too high viscosity leads to oil return difficulty, and hub bearing is loose or damaged. This situation cannot be detected by us personally, and we can only rely on professional maintenance personnel for inspection and maintenance.
5. Looseness of suspension parts of chassis: vehicles used for a long time or often crossing roads with poor road conditions will cause the car to bump and produce violent vibration, which will loosen screws or connectors for a long time. This situation is mostly caused by older vehicles. Because the body is too heavy, and I don't have a weightlifter, I suggest not to handle it myself. I should go to the repair shop and ask the maintenance staff to check whether it is loose and tight.
6. The rubber limit block fixed in the groove of the steering gear is seriously worn: the rubber limit block is mostly due to aging or reaching the limit of service life, because each component has a certain service cycle. In addition, individuals do not have professional tools, so it is recommended to go to the repair shop to replace the rubber limit block to avoid unnecessary trouble.
7. Too fast: In this case, just slow down. In addition, when the vehicle reaches a certain high speed, the steering wheel may shake or shimmy, and even feel that the sense of direction of the vehicle is inconsistent with the expected handling.
Reminder again: If there are problems 2, 3 and 7, you can handle them yourself, and the others should be checked and maintained in the repair shop. Do not open it for inspection and maintenance at will.
What is the power steering system?
In fact, the power steering system is to assist the driver. When driving a vehicle to turn or correct the direction, it reduces the strength of the driver's steering wheel and increases the stability of the vehicle's driving direction. Power steering system also plays a certain role in the safety and economy of automobile driving. They can be divided into hydraulic power steering, electric power steering and electro-hydraulic power steering systems.
Hydraulic power steering
Hydraulic power steering is an engine-driven steering booster pump, which makes high-pressure steering booster oil flow into the left or right cavity of the steering gear and provides power by using pressure difference. When the vehicle accelerates, the rotational speed of the engine increases continuously, which makes the rotational speed of the steering booster pump increase, and the pressure of the booster oil increases. So the faster the vehicle speed, the lighter the steering wheel will be.
Electric power steering
Electric power steering provides power in the form of direct motor drive, which does not need engine drive and will not be affected by speed. Because of the program in the electric power assist system, the steering wheel becomes lighter at low speed and heavier at high speed, which improves the maneuverability and stability of driving.
Electrohydraulic power steering
Electro-hydraulic power steering is to directly drive hydraulic oil through a motor, which is basically the same as hydraulic power except that it does not need engine drive. From this point of view, electro-hydraulic power steering is actually a combination of hydraulic power and electric power.
Tips: When the car is driving, the driver finds that the steering wheel suddenly becomes lighter, which may be caused by overheating of the electronic control unit of the car power assist system. The electronic control unit in the automobile power assist system changes the power assist according to the signal of the wheel speed sensor. If the electronic control unit is overheated, the speed analysis will be wrong, which will lead to the steering wheel suddenly brightening when the car is driving at high speed. If this happens, you should go to the auto repair center for inspection as soon as possible.
