In his early years, Zhang Daoling was a teacher of Taixue, and he was very knowledgeable. Later, because he often fell ill, he wanted to find a way to achieve immortality, so he traveled to famous mountains and rivers, and stopped at a place called Yunjin Mountain. A strange book was found in the place, and the "Dragon and Tiger Magic Pill" was made according to the instructions in the book. During the process, a green dragon and a white tiger suddenly appeared in the sky. Zhang Daoling became a god, and Yunjin Mountain was named Dragon because of this. Tiger Mountain.
After that, Zhang Daoling's magic became increasingly sophisticated. One day, a god entrusted him with a dream to go to Shu to help the people and relieve their worries. Zhang Daoling immediately went there. In the middle of Shu, Zhang Daoling did his best to save Shu. The people were in the midst of fire and water, so he was supported by the people. Zhang Daoling established his own religious order here, replacing the status of the wizard in Shu. According to folklore, Zhang Daoling ascended to heaven with two of his disciples in Qingcheng Mountain in his later years, and his position as heavenly master was passed on to his son Zhang Heng, who is the well-known inventor of the armillary sphere.
After several generations of changes, in the fourth generation, during the period of Zhang Heng’s grandson Zhang Sheng, the center of preaching was moved back to Longhu Mountain, where every generation of heavenly masters called themselves. Hushan became the ancestral home of Taoism. Different dynasties have different names for the Celestial Master. The first four generations were all called "Celestial Master", the fifth generation was called "Xu Bai", in the Song Dynasty it was called "Shou Zhen", and in the Yuan Dynasty it was called "Celestial Master". "Real person", in the Song Dynasty, several emperors were very obsessed with Taoism, such as Song Zhenzong and Song Huizong, who gave special treatment to Taoist priests and allocated funds to build temples.
By the Yuan Dynasty, "real people" had reached the first rank, which shows that the emperor attached great importance to Taoism. By the Ming Dynasty, the 42nd generation had been renamed "Celestial Master". After Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, the 42nd generation Celestial Master Zhang Chenggong went to Beijing six times to congratulate Zhu Yuanzhang on his great achievements. Because he claimed to be a Celestial Master, he was faced with Zhu Yuanzhang was disgusted, "I am the emperor, I am heaven, how dare you call yourself a heavenly master", so he asked Zhu Changchang to change his title to "Da Zhenren", and was given the second rank of official official, and later he was given the sixth rank of bronze seal. During the reign of Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty, due to a severe drought, he asked Master Zhang to pray for rain, but he failed. This made Shenzong very dissatisfied, and the reputation of Master Zhang also deteriorated.
During the Qing Dynasty, the budget allocated to the Celestial Masters was reduced, and the Celestial Masters were not allowed to come to the capital to have an audience. The Celestial Masters had no choice but to pray on their own on Longhu Mountain. By the time of the Republic of China, when the atmosphere was liberalized, Tianshi had long been forgotten by people. However, when they heard that Zhang Xun had restored the monarchy, they came non-stop to congratulate and ask for the title. However, the restoration failed within a few days, and Zhang Tianshi had to return to his ancestral court in despair. After all, they are still a group of feudal and superstitious believers who live off the emperor's rewards. If they are lucky, they can become famous and show off their power. What is surprising is that Zhang Tianshi has existed for more than a thousand years and has now been passed down to the sixty-fourth generation. , there are 10 Taoist palaces and 36 Taoist temples in Longhu Mountain, which is my largest Taoist building complex at present.
