In 2002, Kouzijiao was named the first dual-flavor liquor brand protected by geographical indications in China, and the third liquor brand to receive this honor after Luzhou-flavor liquor Fang Shuijing and Maotai-flavor liquor.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine further demonstrated and analyzed the protection scope, historical origin, natural environment, technological characteristics, quality characteristics and quality control of Kouzijiao wine, and after consulting relevant liquor experts, awarded Kouzijiao the international honor.
