1. Power
In the movie "Schindler's List", Schindler told a Nazi officer what power is. Schindler asked the officer why we wanted to kill so many people. What an innocent person? The officer replied because we have the authority. Schindler said no, this is not called power. The officer was surprised and asked what real power was? Schindler told him that there was a thief who committed the crime of stealing. He was brought before the king. The king could have executed him, but the king said to him, I pardon you-this is power!
2. Don’t be anxious, go down slowly
When I was in college, there was a persimmon forest on campus. When the persimmons were ripe, the big and sweet persimmons would bend the branches heavily. , tempting us to always look for an opportunity to secretly pick a few persimmons to satisfy our greed. The school clearly stipulates that no one is allowed to enter the garden to pick fruits without the permission of the management personnel. Any violations will be punished according to the circumstances and recorded in the student files. Awed by the majesty of school regulations, we can only look at it and sigh.
The opportunity finally came. One weekend night, the bright moon shines brightly. After the self-study class, the entire teaching building turned off the lights. We three roommates thought that the manager of the persimmon forest should go home, and we could take the opportunity to steal persimmons to satisfy our greed. Soon we found a flashlight and clarified the division of labor. One person is watching people outside the garden, one goes up the tree to pick persimmons, and the other picks up the persimmons under the tree. In less than a moment our bags were filled with persimmons. The roommate who was suddenly released shouted: "Come down quickly, the management staff is here, get out!"
The roommate on the tree panicked and hurriedly slid down the tree. But it's too late. The old man guarding the persimmon forest had already walked to the tree with a flashlight. I waited anxiously for his questioning, but the classmates on the tree were too scared to come down. The old man slowly shined his flashlight on the tree and said softly: "Don't worry, get down slowly, and be careful not to fall!" The roommate remained silent on the tree. "Say if you want to eat persimmons. It's very dangerous to pick persimmons at night. Come down, don't panic. If you can't get down, I'll get you a ladder." The old man quickly brought a ladder and put it on the tree. The roommate stepped on the ladder and got down the tree steadily. .
We stood under the tree and waited for his questioning, with our hearts in our throats. At the moment of graduation, in this school known for its strict discipline, violating school rules is tantamount to self-destruction.
What was even worse was that two officers on duty from the school police department heard the sound and rushed over with flashlights. One took out the registration book for students who violated the rules, and the other asked seriously: "What happened? Is someone stealing persimmons? Which department and class are they from? What is their name?" The old man got ahead of us and said, "I want to eat at my leisure tonight. I asked three students who had just started self-study to help me pick a few persimmons.”
“Isn’t it possible? How many bags do you need to pick a few persimmons? You must have selfish motives?” , I want to sell it outside the school,” the person on duty said maliciously. "If you don't believe me, you can ask them!" the old man said calmly. We all spoke in unison to help the old man cover up his lie. The man on duty left angrily.
The old man said: "Child, go back, don't make mistakes in the future, the future is important!"
We spent the night in uneasiness, always worrying that the people on duty would Come investigate.
Later, we never saw the old man again on campus. We heard that the old man was dismissed from the school and returned to his poor rural hometown because he stole the school’s persimmons outside at night. Sell. We graduated successfully in July of that year with a feeling of self-blame. But until now, the old man's words still linger in my ears - "Don't be anxious, go down slowly, and be careful not to fall!" These words full of tenderness and care not only safeguard our dignity but also expose our shallowness. .
Whenever some inexperienced students around me make mistakes occasionally, I will think of the old man and that unusual moonlit night.
3. Watching sparrows through the window
There is a small sparrow outside the window. It cannot fly or hover. It cannot follow the airflow and go straight up to the white clouds and sky like those larger birds. In between, make a great overlook or a great voyage. He is a realist who lives in the market from one tree to another, from one building to another, busy but not ashamed, mediocre but not inferior.
It is so small that if it falls on a branch, it will be a black spot in my myopic eyes, and I can't even see a comma or a period clearly. Flying low, jumping, pecking, preening, emitting the ever-childish chirp, being stoic or cheerful as the seasons change, chasing after mating, responsibly incubating eggs and raising young.
It is a living punctuation dotted in the process of human life: when it falls on a dead branch in winter, it is a comma; when it falls on a certain wall, it is a period; when several of them fall on the wire together, it is a comma. It's an ellipsis; it's a semicolon when a couple chases each other and flies around when they are tired, and when they get tired and fall on the upper and lower branches.
It is closest to human life, but always keeps a distance.
The name they are given by people is sparrow. I wonder if they also think each other is a "sparrow"?
4. The Clothes of Truth
Truth and falsity came to the river to swim together. They both took off their clothes and jumped into the water. While truth was swimming happily, error swam back to the shore secretly and stole truth's clothes.
Since then, error has often swaggered through the market wearing the clothes of truth, while truth has been naked.
Fables are truth’s best friends. At first, he often visited other friends' homes with the naked truth. However, when people saw them from a distance, they would lock the door tightly.
Fable said sadly: "How can you treat my friend like this? Although he is naked, he is more sincere, pure and trustworthy than any beautifully dressed fallacy!" Friends told him Said: "The era of human nakedness has long passed. After all, being naked is a symbol of backwardness. If you want your friend to become a popular person, you should dress him in clothes that are commensurate with the times!"
Fable follows the advice of his friends and often designs novel, unique, generous and beautiful clothes for Truth. Wherever they go, they are welcomed by people.
5. Cry enough before talking
Ellie, a famous British ballet star, is only twelve years old. Unfortunately, he is about to have his leg amputated due to bone cancer. Before the operation, Eli's relatives and friends, including her viewers, came to visit after hearing the news. This one said: "Don't be sad. A miracle may happen and you still have a chance to stand up slowly." The other said: "You are a strong child. You must hold on. We are all praying for you." Eli said nothing. Fa, silently smiling and thanking everyone.

Ellie feels that these are the most considerate and understanding words for her!
6. Do not neglect spiritual nutrition
The "Nei Jing" of traditional Chinese medicine says: "Tranquility and emptiness, the true energy comes from it. Keep the spirit inward, and the disease will always be safe. Therefore, you should be leisurely and take little rest. , The mind is at ease without fear, and the body is tired without fatigue. At that time you will feel that everyone needs you, and this feeling will make you a spiritually rich person. You know, "giving" is always more pleasant than "taking".
9. The true height
I still remember that winter 10 years ago, on a sunny morning, my father took my brother and me to visit my aunt’s house in the city. At the station, my father approached the ticket window and asked: "How much does it cost for the three of us to go to Hefei?"
The young ticket sales lady said: "Adults are 4 yuan, and children taller than 1.20 meters are the same as adults. "How tall are they two?"
The father replied: "The small one is 1.15 meters and the big one is 1.22 meters. I will pay 8 yuan."
The ticket sales lady smiled and said: "Hey, sir, have you just picked up money or made a fortune? Just tell me that the older boy is 1.20 meters tall, and you can save 4 yuan. My eyes are not rulers, I I can’t see any difference."
The father replied: "You are right, but the children know that they are taller than me!"
10. A tank of fish
On an international train, a German, a Japanese, an American and a Frenchman each traveled together. On the way, a guest came up with a fish tank. The fish in the tank were very rare.
Everyone is very curious about this fish. The German asked: "Can you tell me the name of this fish? What is its biological category and what are its habits?" The Japanese asked: "Can we introduce this kind of fish to our country? In Japan, there are climate, water temperature, Under the water conditions, can this kind of money grow?” The American asked: “Did you get your fish from the United States?” The French asked: “Can you get it from the United States?” Sell ??me the fish. The French have developed a unique art using this fish species to attract a large number of tourists from all over the world.
11. The fate of camels
Originally, the living environment of camels was not harsh. Like other animals, they lived in places with lush flowers and abundant water. Once, their leader, the Lion King, held a democratic life meeting and asked the animals to provide some opinions on their own leadership methods. Some animals criticized the Lion King for being too benevolent, leaving some animals without a leader; some animals criticized the Lion King for being too diligent and not paying attention to maintaining authority. It was the camel's turn to speak. It accused the lion of abusing his power and bullying the weak. The Lion King greatly praised the camel's outspokenness, asked all the animals to follow the camel's example, and announced on the spot that the largest piece of territory would be given to the camel. So, the camel came to the enfeoffed territory - the vast Gobi Desert.
12. Who sits in first class?
On a flight from New York, a middle-aged white woman was arranged to sit next to a black man. She glared at the black man next to her, who responded to her unkindness with a smile. So the white woman called the flight attendant over aggressively.
"What's the problem?"
"You arranged for me to sit here. I can't stand sitting next to such an unfortunate person. Find me another one." Location! ”
A few minutes later, the flight attendant came back.

The surrounding passengers all applauded warmly, and the black passenger walked into the first class cabin with a wave of applause.
13. For the happiness of pigs
Recently, farmers in the UK have been troubled by two regulations imposed by the EU and the British government.
New EU regulations require pig farmers to put operable items in pig pens to relieve boredom, have fun and entertain pigs. As for the type of item, it can be straw or other natural items. Such regulations have become complicated in the UK. The British government is considering requiring farmers to use toys instead of natural products regulated by the EU, and is intensifying its requirements to distribute "interesting toys" to pigs. If pig farmers violate the regulations, they will be fined different amounts depending on the severity of the case.
This penalty immediately set off a war of words between the government and pig farmers over "pig toys".
What constitutes an “interesting toy”? Should the piglets take turns rolling the dice and play a game of "Monopoly"? Or let them ride bicycles and ride the wind happily?
It seems that the British government and pig farmers will continue to quarrel for a while for the happiness of the pigs.

15. Killing pigs to teach children
Zeng Shen was a student of Confucius. He emphasized the need to be honest. One day, Zeng Shen's wife wanted to go to bed, but her son held her by the skirt of her clothes and made her cry. Today, if you don't keep your words and lie to the children, you are teaching them to tell lies. Besides, the mother has lied to the child, and the child feels that the mother's words are unreliable. If he is educated in the future, he will not easily believe it. "
As a result, Zeng Shen persuaded his wife to kill the pig.
16. Wu Dalang Opens a Shop
The famous cartoonist Fang Cheng once painted a picture "Wu Dalang Opens a Shop" "Cartoon.
The Wu Dalang in the painting originally worked as a seller of sesame cakes, but later changed his fortunes in the wave of reform and became the shopkeeper of a hotel. What is puzzling is that he has always been honest and honest. Wu Dalang, ever since he had the slightest "power" as the "hotel manager", immediately began to play the role of jealousy and jealousy. Listen to what the guys said: "Our hotel manager said that no one taller than him will be allowed to stay! ”
17. The Smile of the Earth
I have planted fragrant roses in the garden. Looking from a distance, they look like a burning sunset. I want to wait for my friends to come as guests. Sometimes, let them bring some roses home. I believe that the figure walking away with the red roses will definitely ignite the susceptible feelings. One day, a very good girlfriend came to visit me. I know she is usually the best. I love flowers, so when I said goodbye, I said, pick a bouquet of roses to decorate your boudoir, and it will be filled with fragrance.
My girlfriend gently stepped into the garden, smelling here and there, feeling in high spirits. , but refused to pick them. I said it didn’t matter, but I wasn’t the owner of a flower shop, so I didn’t make money from roses. After I said that, I raised the scissors and prepared to present them. My girlfriend hurriedly stopped me and shouted, “No, no.” .
It makes people feel sad to cut such a beautiful rose. She grabbed my sleeve and warned: Never cut it, the rose is the smile of earth, who can bear to kill such an intoxicating smile?
My soul was shocked. The ugly soil, the humble soil, the simple soil, showed an amazing smile because of this smile.
A friend. I was lucky enough to buy a vase at an auction. It has a narrow neck and a big belly, with floral patterns of blue and white. From its shape to its color, it looks like the embodiment of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, graceful, luxurious, proud, leisurely and arrogant. Please watch it. The strange thing is that every visitor is cautious, fearing to damage this treasure of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. It is just a handful of clay, which has been refined into a classic porcelain after being fired in the kiln.
The purple sand pots in Jiangnan are exquisite and clear, and the colorful sculptures of clay figures are amazing. Aren't they all the smiles of clay? Even if they were ugly, humble, and simple, they are still awe-inspiring.
I understand that no matter how ordinary a person is, there is no reason to be buried. As long as he strives to live a colorful life, he will surely impress others.
18. Yan Ying makes Chu
Yan Ying was short, so the people of Chu opened a small door next to the main door and let Yan Ying enter through the small door. Yan Ying refused to enter through the small door and said: "Only those who go on missions to the dog country come from the dog country." Enter through the door. I am on an envoy to the State of Chu, so I should enter through this door. "The protocol officer had to accompany him to enter through the gate instead.
Yan Ying met the King of Chu. The King of Chu said sarcastically: "Is there no one left in Qi? Yan Ying replied: "There are three hundred villages in Linzi, the capital of Qi, and there are twenty-five families in each village. With so many people, they can form curtains by spreading their sleeves, and sweating like a drop of rain from one person, how can you say that?" No one? The king of Chu said: "In that case, why did you be sent as an envoy?" Yan Ying replied: "Everyone who is entrusted with envoys in Qi has his own plans. The wise ones are sent to wise countries, and the unworthy envoys are sent to unwise countries." I am the most unworthy person, so I was sent as an envoy to the State of Chu. ”
Yan Ying’s wit made his image taller.
19. Two statues
Nelson Middle School is the oldest middle school in the United States. , it was founded by the first 73 Puritans who landed on the American continent. At the entrance of this middle school, there are two sculptures made of Scottish black marble. The one on the left is a goshawk and the one on the right is a horse. Galloping Horse.
For more than 300 years, these two sculptures have become the symbols of Nelson High School.
They are engraved on the school emblem, printed on postcards, reduced into miniatures and placed in gift boxes. Now, I also have an "Eagle-Horse Miniature Sculpture" from Nelson Middle School on my desk. It was brought back from Nelson Middle School by a middle school student who accompanied a Chinese city friendship delegation to Philadelphia in 1999.
This gift from across the ocean has been on my desk for three years. Over the past three years, I have looked at them countless times. I know that their weight is 1.48 kilograms, their height is 38 centimeters, and that they are made of rosewood. However, I have never thought about what this group of sculptures actually means, because I have always been self-righteous about things like eagles and horses, thinking that the eagle represents a long journey and the horse represents immediate success. However, when I accidentally read about the origin of these two sculptures on the Internet one day, I realized that I was wrong. My Chinese-style thinking had nothing to do with the original intention of this group of sculptures.
The eagle does not represent a great journey, it is actually an eagle that starved to death. In order to realize its great ideal of flying around the world, this eagle worked hard to practice various flying skills, but forgot to learn the skills of foraging. It starved to death on the fourth day of its journey. That horse was not a thousand-mile horse, but a skinned horse. It felt that its first owner, a miller, gave him too much work, and begged God to move it to a farmer's home. God granted its wish, but it also felt that the farmer gave him too little feed. Finally it was taken to a cobbler. There was no work there and there was plenty of feed, but within a few days, its skin was peeled off.
When I read the allegorical explanation of this group of sculptures, my first reaction was to call the person who gave me this gift and ask him about the best student in the city. Middle school students, do you know the true meaning of Nelson Middle School’s “Eagle-Horse Miniature Sculpture”?
When I called him, he was making the final sprint for the National Mathematical Olympiad Competition. When he received the call, before I could speak, he said in a commanding tone: "Mom, this competition is directly related to the college entrance examination (forum) admission. You'd better come and bring 300 yuan by the way, and then give it to me." Take away my dirty clothes." Hearing this, I hesitated. I thought to myself, this is the best student in the city, and this is the son I have always been proud of. Finally, I hung up the phone with an indescribable feeling.
A few days ago, I saw an article on the Internet written by Dr. Wilfred, an American sinology expert, saying that the Chinese translated "Learning to Be" advocated by UNESCO. Wrong (we translated it as "learn to be a human being"). After reading it, I thought, should I write an article and tell about that group of sculptures to tell my children and people like him: What really saves people from hunger, cold and pain is labor. and survival skills, rather than how well he masters the things in the book.
20. Napoleon was good at utilizing talents.
Napoleon's important position in European history is largely due to his ability to discover and use talents. Most of his marshals and generals were younger:
Sourt was promoted to brigadier general at the age of 25 due to his outstanding military exploits, to major general at the age of 30, and at the age of 35 he was awarded the rank of marshal. At the age of 26, Marmont served as commander of the artillery of the French Army in Italy. At the age of 27, he served as corps commander and artillery director. He was also awarded the rank of marshal at the age of 35. At the age of 28, Daou served as the cavalry commander of the expedition to Egypt, and at the age of 30, he served as the cavalry commander of the French army in Italy. When Macdonald was 33 years old, he led an expedition to Italy and captured Rome. At the age of 35, he served as the commander-in-chief of the French army in Switzerland.
When selecting generals, Napoleon completely abolished the traditional concept of judging heroes based on their birthplace. He called on everyone to strive to become generals and marshals. Many of his distinguished marshals came from the lower classes of society. From ordinary soldiers: Marshal Ney is the son of a hotel owner, Marshal Lannes is the son of a soldier, and Marshal Bernardo and Lefort both grew up from ordinary soldiers.
21. Metaphor of youth
Youth is the morning sun. She is radiant and dazzling, and all gloom and gloom are expelled by her.
Youth is like the surging waves in the river, her surging passion echoes in the world, and no one can stop her from seeking the sea.
Youth is a bird flying high in the sky. Her beautiful wings are like colorful flags, calling for ideals and looking forward to the future.
Youth is a tree with lush branches and leaves. She infects all living creatures with her green light, making the scene of spring always remain in the world.
Youth is a song with an endless aftertaste. It interweaves romantic feelings with severe reality and touches everyone's heartstrings.
Youth is vigorous vitality, undying hope, indomitable courage, and the most brilliant color in life...
22. Monkeys in the Amazon
An Australian zoologist brought back two monkeys from the Amazon River Basin. One is huge and the other is thin and frail. He kept them in two cages, fed them carefully every day, and observed their living habits. A year later, the big monkey died inexplicably. In order not to interrupt the research, he had another one brought from Brazil. This one was bigger than the dead one, but it died again within half a year. In order to find out the reason, he conducted anatomy on the corpses of two monkeys, but he could not find the reason from beginning to end.
Later, he returned to the Amazon River and conducted research on the monkeys there. He found that all monkeys that were large and strong had better interpersonal relationships. When other monkeys get food, they always get a share. But this type of monkey rarely stays still. Whenever they have free time, they shuttle among the monkeys, chasing and fighting with other monkeys. However, once captured, these monkeys rarely survive more than a year. Those monkeys that are good at basking in the sun and closing their eyes to rest are different. Because they do not join the group, they rarely share the food of other monkeys. These monkeys are relatively weak, but they can survive after being caught.
The zoologist finally concluded that for monkeys, a life lacking communication is a defect, and a life lacking solitude is a disaster.
23. Self-rescue
An Airbus encountered a mechanical failure after taking off from the airport. The pilot tried his best to make an emergency landing, but the plane still crashed into a large swamp.
A raging fire broke out in the airplane swamp, and a violent explosion occurred ten minutes later. Eyewitnesses speculated that the chances of the passengers on the plane surviving were slim. However, the actual situation is that of the 108 people on the plane, only 13 died. This is simply a miracle in the history of aviation.
This is a true story that happened at Delta Airlines in the United States.
According to local media, the high survival rate after the plane was destroyed was due to the brave behavior of one passenger.
He was a helicopter pilot. When the plane hit the ground violently, he quickly found the crack in the plane with his professional sensitivity and sent the nearest passenger outside the plane. , and at the same time he asked the passenger to assist him in his work, while he shouted out the escape route. The awakened passengers on the plane rushed towards the crack. The situation was a bit out of control. He was a little panicked. If there was chaos, there would be very few people escaping. However, everyone quickly formed a long line and helped each other move forward. Although everyone was very panicked, the escape team was orderly.
The plane is burning, and everyone knows what time means. Passengers left the plane one after another with the assistance of ground personnel. Minutes after he left the plane, the plane exploded.
The TV station made an exclusive interview with him, and many surviving passengers called him to express their heartfelt thanks. However, this brave retired pilot said that he would like to thank the surviving passengers even more. They queued up in an orderly manner to buy time and saved himself and him.
24. A slight difference
In April 1930, Yan Xishan and Feng Yuxiang formed an anti-Chiang alliance and launched the Central Plains War against Chiang. Yan and Feng planned to meet up at Qinyang at the junction of Henan and Shanxi in order to annihilate the Chiang Kai-shek army stationed in Henan in one fell swoop.
Unexpectedly, Feng's staff mistakenly wrote "Qinyang" as "Biyang" when drafting the order. It happened that Biyang in southern Henan was hundreds of miles away from Qinyang. As a result, Feng's troops mistakenly entered Biyang, which delayed the favorable opportunity to annihilate Chiang's army, making the Yan and Feng coalition forces passive everywhere, resulting in the failure of the joint operation. Later generations jokingly called this melee in the Central Plains a war that was lost in one fell swoop. If it weren't for this, perhaps some chapters of Chinese history would have to be rewritten.
