Toyota's new Harrier is unveiled, equipped with a 2.5L hybrid engine, and may be named "Fenglanda" in China

Speaking of Toyota Harrier, the name may be unfamiliar to many people, but Harrier has actually been around for quite some time. Like the RAV4 Rongfang, it is produced based on the TNGA platform. It is larger than the RAV4 but slightly smaller than the Highlander. More importantly, the Toyota Harrier will be domestically produced in the future. According to current information, the original model of the new Harrier will be produced and sold by FAW Toyota. GAC Toyota will make basic adjustments to the new Harrier and launch a sister model of the new Harrier.

A few days ago, Toyota has applied for the car name trademarks of "FRONTLANDER" and "FRONTLANDER" in China. According to the naming habits of Toyota models in China, GAC Toyota will be named "FRONTLANDER". FAW Toyota is expected to choose one of Hilia and Vesa to name. At present, the overseas version of the new Toyota Harrier has been officially put on sale in stores, and future domestically produced models are expected to use a large number of design elements from the overseas version. Let’s take this opportunity to learn more about this new Toyota Harrier.

In terms of appearance, the new Harrier is obviously different from all domestic Toyota SUV models. The overall design is biased toward urban style, and its temperament is somewhat similar to the Lexus RX. In particular, the large-mouth air intake grille on the front face, paired with the sharp and long headlights on both sides, has a very domineering shape and looks quite luxurious.

On the side of the body, the design of the new Harrier is very modern and fashionable. The roof line that starts to slide down from the C-pillar creates the illusion of a coupe SUV, which is very beautiful. At the same time, the multi-spoke wheels also add a good sense of sportiness to it. At the rear of the car, the design of the new Harrier is stable yet fashionable. The use of a large number of horizontal lines makes the rear of the car distinct and very attractive. Of course, the biggest highlight at the rear of the car is the through-type LED taillights, which not only have a brilliant effect when lit, but also create a sense of elegance and luxury comparable to that of luxury cars.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new Harrier are 4740/1855/1660mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2690mm. The overall size is between the RAV4 Rongfang and the Highlander, but compared with the Honda Crown Road , the new Harrier is almost interesting.

In the interior, the layout design of the new Harrier is somewhat similar to that of the RAV4. There is still a huge floating center control screen on the center console. The vertical layout of the center console area looks very much like Lexus. The style and two-tone leather interior also highlight the high-end feel. Although the actual car is a right-hand drive model, you can rest assured that after the new Harrier is introduced into the country, it will definitely be changed to left-hand drive, and the interior design is expected to be consistent with overseas models.

In terms of power, the new Harrier provides a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine and a 2.5L hybrid system. Among them, the 2.0L model has a maximum output power of 171 horsepower and a peak torque of 207 Nm. It is matched with a CVT continuously variable transmission and is available in front-wheel drive/four-wheel drive models. The hybrid version is equipped with a THS II hybrid system based on a 2.5L engine. The four-wheel drive version has a combined maximum system power of 222 horsepower, and the transmission system is matched with an E-CVT gearbox.

To sum up, the new Harrier is more like a "luxury version" of RAV4. Its sportier exterior design and more refined interior style reflect its higher positioning than RAV4. As for the selling price, it is expected that the price of the domestically produced Harrier will be between RAV4 and Highlander in the future, or around 200,000-300,000.
