September 1942 was renamed Zuoquan County in memory of General Zuo Quan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Eighth Route Army who died here. Zuo Quan is a famous "hometown of singing and dancing" in China. Zuo Quan Huaqiang and Xiaohua Opera were selected into the national intangible cultural heritage protection list, and were named as "the hometown of folk culture and art in China" by the Ministry of Culture.
