Tobacco type
The so-called tobacco type refers to the further division of variation groups of tobacco cultivars according to production needs or habits. Different types of tobacco leaves are different in appearance, chemical composition, smoke characteristics and technological uses. According to their different quality characteristics, the tobacco industry makes appropriate preparations to manufacture tobacco products that meet different requirements and tastes.
In the long-term tobacco cultivation process, due to the differences in use requirements, modulation methods, cultivation measures and natural environmental conditions, various types have been formed.
Tobacco can be divided into cigarettes, cigars, pipes, hookahs, snuff, chewing tobacco and so on. According to the quality characteristics, biological characteristics and cultivation methods of tobacco leaves, cultivated tobacco in China can be divided into six types: flue-cured tobacco, sun-cured tobacco, air-cured tobacco, burley tobacco, oriental tobacco and yellow tobacco.
