Bingdundun design history

On August 8, 2018, the global solicitation launching ceremony for the Beijing Winter Olympics was held. The solicitation lasted for 84 days, and 5,816 designs were received. In the end, the Winter Olympics mascot Bingdundun, designed by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts design team, stood out. In August 2019, the Beijing Winter Olympics work leading group determined the final plan.

In August 2019, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee reported the mascot candidates to the Beijing Winter Olympics Working Leading Group and determined the final plan. On the evening of September 17, 2019, Bingdundun BingDwenDwen was officially released to the public. In December 2020, the Bingdundun trademark was successfully registered.
