Panjin rice, a specialty of Panjin City, Liaoning Province, is a national geographical indication product of China. The production environment is superior and the cultivation history is long. The rice produced has become a high-quality product with a national reputation due to its five characteristics: good appearance quality, good processing quality, good physical and chemical properties, good eating quality, and good hygienic quality. In 2003, Panjin rice was approved as a "National Geographical Indication Product" by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; in 2004, the "Panjin Rice Registration Certification Trademark" was registered in the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce; in 2007, Panjin rice was awarded both the "Chinese Famous Brand" and "China's Well-known Trademark" honor; in 2008, Panjin rice was designated as "Beijing Olympic Games rice".
