The White Swan Hotel, jointly invested and built by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and Mr. Fok Ying-tung's Hong Kong Weichang Development Co., Ltd., was born on February 6, 1983, in the early days of China's reform and opening up.
The establishment of the first large-scale modern joint venture hotel designed, built and managed in China is a need for reform and opening up, developing tourism and improving the investment environment. This is a brand new business, a new world that has never been done before.
As the first modern large-scale Sino-foreign cooperative hotel designed, built and managed by the Chinese themselves since the reform and opening up, the White Swan Hotel has made progress step by step and down-to-earth in the 25 years since its opening. On the journey of establishing, starting a business and keeping the business, with correct strategic decisions, unique management models, scientific management experience and good operating performance, we have embarked on a successful path of modern hotel management with Chinese characteristics. In 1985, it was the first to join the World Class Hotel Organization. In 1990, it was rated as one of the first three five-star hotels in the country. In 1996, it ranked first in the selection of the National Top 100 and 50 Best Hotels. It has been selected by international travel guides and internationally renowned magazines for many years. Newspapers and magazines rated it as the first choice hotel for international business people visiting Guangzhou. In 2000, the White Swan trademark was recognized as a nationally well-known trademark. When the cooperation period expired in 2003, the assets were owned by the Guangdong Provincial Government. In July 2004, it was officially supervised by the Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and became the first five-star hotel in China to be successfully transformed into a state-owned enterprise. It can be said that the general environment of reform and opening up has given birth to the growth of the white swan; the white swan, which keeps pace with the development of the times, is a witness to reform and opening up, and it confirms the success of the party's reform and opening up policy.
