8. How to develop the credit card market in China from the process of issuing credit cards in the world?
Credit cards in China have entered a stage of rapid development. According to statistics, by the end of last year, the number of credit cards issued in China reached 90.26 million, an increase of 82% year-on-year. ICBC and China Merchants Bank accounted for most of the credit card market with 23 million and 20.68 million respectively.

Judging from the published annual report, the amount of bank cards issued last year almost approached or exceeded the previous total. Among them, ICBC exceeded 23 million, double the number at the end of last year; China Merchants Bank issued a total of 20.68 million cards, and issued10.34 million cards that year; Bank of Communications cooperated with HSBC to issue more than 5 million cards, and 3 million new cards were issued that year; CITIC Bank has issued 4.22 million cards, with an increase of 1.9386 million cards that year, up 91.91%year-on-year; Minsheng Bank issued a total of 3.34 million cards, with 6.5438+0.9 million new cards issued last year, a year-on-year increase of 46%. Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and Citigroup jointly issued 1.6694 million cards, with an increase of 1.05699 million cards in that year; The number of valid SDB cards was1884,300, up 19 1% year-on-year. In that year, 1.3703 million cards were issued, up by 4 19% year-on-year.

Nevertheless, in view of the low credit card holding rate of China residents, there is still huge room for growth in the credit card market. Jin Chen, president of CITIC Bank Credit Card Center, believes that the rapid development of credit card market in China will last for three to five years.

He said that CITIC Credit Card will not promote growth at the expense of profits. During this period, those banks that can manage risks well and provide customers with better products and services will win the competition. The heads of credit card centers of China Merchants Bank, Minsheng Bank, Guangfa Bank and other banks have also said that they pay more attention to the improvement of credit card quality, including risk control and accurate development of different target customers, compared with the increase in quantity. At present, China Merchants Bank's Air China Companion Card, CITIC, Minsheng Bank's Platinum Card and Guangfa and CITIC's Women's Cards have become their respective iconic products.

Insiders pointed out that commercial banks in China should learn enough lessons from the US subprime mortgage crisis. Because credit cards involve far more than housing mortgage business, we can't take their potential risks and possible problems lightly. When the amount of card issuance expands rapidly, we should plan ahead and control all kinds of risks from all aspects.
