1, magnetic tape: cheap, huge capacity (more than 30G digital data per disk), large traffic (more than 200MB/ s), the disadvantage is that it can only be read linearly, that is, it does not support jumping and nonlinear editing.
2. Disks: The capacity is huge (the disk arrays used in movies are all 3-5TB, and those used at home are also 100GB), and the traffic is extremely high (the traffic of the disk arrays is above 2GB/ s, and those used at home are also 150MB/ s). The reading mode is random reading, that is, jump and nonlinear editing are supported. Disadvantages are high price and heavy weight.
3. Flash memory: random reading, support for jumping and nonlinear editing, extremely light weight and many shortcomings. First, the traffic is low, which is only about 30MB/ s for home use, and it is difficult for the dedicated P2 card to reach the bandwidth of 200 MB/s. In addition, the price of flash memory is too high compared with the above two storage media. In general, the data has also been severely compressed, and the quality has dropped significantly.
