CITIC Bank, formerly known as CITIC Industrial Bank, was founded in 1987 and renamed at the end of 2005. CITIC Bank is one of the national commercial banks in China, with its headquarters in Beijing.
The major shareholder is China CITIC Company Limited. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (S. A. BBVA) spent 50,654.38 billion euros (about HK$ 5.02 billion) to buy a 5% stake in CITIC Bank, and may also choose to increase its shareholding in CITIC Bank to 10.07%. On April 27th, 2007, CITIC Bank was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. CITIC Bank is the seventh largest bank in Chinese mainland, with total assets exceeding HK$ 65,438+0,200 billion, employees exceeding 65,438+0,600 and more than 540 branches. It is one of the six banks and three guarantees for Chinese financial stocks in Hong Kong.
On May 9, 2020, the Consumer Protection Bureau of the China Banking Regulatory Commission reported that in March, 2020, CITIC Bank provided personal bank account transaction details to a third party without the authorization of the customer himself, which violated the principle of confidentiality for depositors. Our bureau will start the investigation procedure in accordance with relevant laws and regulations and investigate and deal with it strictly according to law.
