According to 2018 statistics from Jintou.com, Zhejiang Province ranks first in per capita consumption of credit cards across the country. The top five provinces and cities with the highest card transaction amounts in 2014 were Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Henan and Shenzhen.

A survey report by the Guangzhou Municipal Information Office in 2004 showed that Guangzhou’s e-commerce payment system has developed rapidly and has become the city with the largest card transaction volume in the country.
