Overseas, the payment is settled in RMB through UnionPay. If you use the international organization route, the payment is made in US dollars (European travel cards are in euros). You can repay in foreign currency before the due date, or you can use RMB to purchase foreign exchange for repayment.
For example, if the credit card of China Merchants Bank is a UnionPay standard card, there is neither handling fee nor currency conversion fee for consumption in Brazil. If it is a UnionPay-VISA dual-currency card, the UnionPay channel is not accepted in Brazil, and VISA will charge a currency conversion fee.
Note:
If you are using a dual-currency card to make purchases abroad, it is more cost-effective to use the UnionPay channel first if you can use the UnionPay channel when swiping the card. Because when using the UnionPay channel, UnionPay will convert the local currency into RMB. After returning home, you can repay directly in RMB. The cardholder only needs to bear the loss of currency conversion once, and there is no currency conversion fee.
