Extended information:
Double-standard card is a product launched by UnionPay to solve the problem that card organizations outside China are unable to conduct RMB settlement and the penetration rate outside China is too low. The card is printed with the logos of card issuers outside China and UnionPay.
In 2010, Visa required that when settling dual-label cards with card numbers starting with 4 (Visa card number) through channels outside China, Visa channels must be used for settlement. Subsequently, UnionPay blocked overseas card organizations, including Visa, from settling RMB transactions. That is to say, Visa cards issued in mainland China were not allowed to be used for transactions in mainland China, and could only be used for consumption outside China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Visa card swiping machines in mainland China can only settle Visa cards issued overseas.
