3. After Air China joined Star Alliance in 2007, its friends were automatically transferred to the Star Alliance frequent flyer program. The direct benefit of this is that Air China partner members can accumulate and redeem mileage through the Air China partner card no matter where they travel in the world and take Star Alliance member flights. Since Star Alliance only has ordinary, silver and gold cards, Air China Zhixin Silver Card members automatically become Star Alliance Silver Card members, and Gold and Platinum Card members automatically become Star Alliance Gold Card members. Star Alliance only provides VIP privileges to Gold Card members, including VIP lounges, 25 extra mileage rewards, free boarding for 20 kilograms of excess baggage, priority boarding, priority upgrades, priority standby and other VIP services at thousands of airports around the world.

Currently, Air China has 5,000 platinum card members, and on average more than 200 platinum card passengers depart from Beijing every day. Air China provides seamless and high-quality services to these top passengers. A platinum card passenger flies at least 160,000 kilometers every year. In 2010, Air China's revenue per charged passenger kilometer was 0.6227 yuan. This platinum card member contributes nearly 100,000 yuan in net profit to Air China every year. Based on the calculation of these 5,000 platinum card members, Air China's annual income from these 5,000 platinum card members is nearly 500 million yuan, accounting for 5% of Air China's 10 billion yuan net profit in 2010.
