Huizhou is a historical city in eastern Guangdong with a unique geographical location and beautiful natural environment. The city has a subtropical monsoon climate. The Tropic of Cancer crosses Yangcun in Boluo County and Nankun Mountain in Longmen County of the city. The northern part of the territory is mountainous, the central, western and riverside areas are mostly alluvial plains, and the eastern and southern parts are hills and plateaus. The territory has abundant rainfall, sufficient sunshine, and a mild climate. The average annual rainfall is 1,700 mm, the total annual sunshine is more than 2,000 hours, the annual average temperature is 22 degrees, the average temperature in July is 28.3 degrees, and the average temperature in January is 13 degrees. Huizhou City has unique natural geographical conditions and is known as "an important town in eastern Guangdong" and "a famous county in Lingnan". There are many cultural and natural landscapes in the urban area and counties, including lakes, seas, mountains, springs and waterfalls. Huizhou West Lake has beautiful scenery. An ancient saying goes: "There are thirty-six West Lakes in China, only Huizhou is as large as Hangzhou." In the first year of Shaosheng in the Song Dynasty (1049 AD), Su Dongpo, a great Chinese writer, was exiled to Huizhou. He highly praised Huizhou West Lake and funded its construction.
