There are thousands of credit cards in China, even in the same bank. Among many bank cards, I think several cards are more suitable for children's shoes studying in the United States:
(1), a credit card named "studying abroad". This kind of card is a credit card specially customized by the bank for international students, and you can enjoy some specific discounts when studying abroad. Such as "Guangfa International Student Credit Card" and "Minsheng Bank International Student Multi-currency Credit Card".
(2) All-currency Platinum Credit Card (some banks call it Global Payment Platinum Card). This card has many preferential functions. For example, an all-currency international credit card can automatically purchase foreign exchange and repay it in RMB. During the validity period, there are no additional conditions to exempt the annual fee of the credit card (some banks may be unavoidable). The exchange fee for any foreign currency consumption in the world is zero, and the first overseas cash withdrawal every month is free of charge. There are many banks that support this card, such as Huaxia Elite Global Platinum Credit Card, Longka Global Payment Credit Card, China Bank Full Currency International Chip Card, China Merchants Bank Visa Full Currency Card, China Merchants Bank MasterCard Full Currency Card and Industrial Bank Full Currency International Credit Card.
In addition, when studying in the United States and using credit cards, you need to know some things:
(1), for overseas (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) overdraft withdrawal and local currency withdrawal, a handling fee of 3% will be charged according to the withdrawal principal, with a minimum of USD 3/RMB 15 yuan (banks may vary); Interest is charged at the rate of five ten thousandths of the principal and the handling fee every day. Interest will be charged from the date of overdraft, and the minimum charge is USD 65,438 +0/RMB 65,438+0.
(2) If self-owned deposits are withdrawn overseas, the handling fee is charged in the same way as above, but no interest is charged for withdrawal.
(3) If cash is withdrawn overseas through international channels, a foreign exchange transaction service fee will be charged; This fee is not charged for withdrawing cash overseas through UnionPay line. This charge is not affected by whether there is any deposit in the card.
(4) If the payment is made overseas (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) through UnionPay, it will be settled in RMB, with no handling fee. If the payment is made by VISA or MASTERCARD, it will be settled in US dollars, and the foreign exchange transaction service fee will be charged at 0.2% of the transaction amount of 65438+.
(5) Some banks also provide a function called "RMB World Link" (different banks have different names). After this function is enabled, all non-RMB transactions conducted by dual-currency credit cards abroad (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) will be automatically converted into RMB transactions, and cardholders only need to repay directly in RMB through RMB repayment channels, without purchasing foreign exchange or making cash/transfer repayment to the US dollar account.
(6) The handling fee for overseas ATM withdrawals consists of two parts: a. The handling fee of the issuing bank (please consult the issuing bank for specific rates); B. American ATMs accept service charges. Some ATMs will charge fees, which are collected by local banks in the United States and have nothing to do with UnionPay and the issuing bank.
At present, China UnionPay has deployed relevant networks around the world. If you are studying in the United States, it is recommended to give priority to using UnionPay cards (cards starting with 62). If you study in the United States, it is recommended to prepare three cards: Guangfa Bank International Student Credit Card (UnionPay Edition), Huaxia Elite Global Platinum Credit Card (MasterCard Edition) and China Merchants Bank Visa Full Currency Card, so that you can achieve "I will swipe whatever card you use!" .
According to the latest requirements of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, in order to further strengthen overseas anti-money laundering work, prevent financial risks, and increase the annual cash withdrawal limit of domestic UnionPay RMB cards, except that each card shall not exceed the equivalent of RMB 6,543,800+per day (the cumulative cash withdrawal of domestic UnionPay RMB cards shall not exceed the equivalent of RMB 6,543,800+). If there is a demand for overseas cash withdrawal, it is best for the public to prepare in advance, because the fees for overseas cash withdrawal vary greatly from bank to bank, so it is best to choose a bank card that can withdraw cash for free.
Note: Dual-currency cards are also called dual-label cards (referring to bank cards with UnionPay logo but also with Visa or MasterCard logo. Generally, the card number starts with 4 or 5). When such cards are used overseas, China UnionPay channel is generally not available. At overseas ATM withdrawal, not only domestic card-issuing banks will charge fees, but also overseas acquiring institutions may charge fees. These banks that introduced preferential measures only reduced the fees originally charged as card-issuing banks, excluding the extra service fees charged by overseas accepting institutions.
