In 218, the Supreme People's Court issued the Provisions on Several Issues Concerning the Trial of Civil Disputes over Bank Cards, in which it was mentioned that the overdue interest rate of credit cards exceeded the annual interest rate by 24%, which would not be supported by the court, and the annualized interest rate of credit cards was limited by laws and regulations.

The People's Bank of China has also issued the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Credit Card Business of Commercial Banks, which stipulates that the overdraft interest rate of credit cards is five ten thousandths of the daily interest rate, and banks can only calculate the penalty interest according to five ten thousandths of the daily interest rate at most.
