Introduction of Nansha development orientation and strategic research
With a planned area of over 800 square kilometers, Guangzhou Nansha New District is one of the three platforms for cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao mentioned in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan (20 1 1 to 20 15). The other two are Qinheng Island in Zhuhai and Qianhai in Shenzhen. The overall development plan of Zhuhai Qinheng Island was released in 2009, and the comprehensive plan of Shenzhen Qianhai is expected to be released in the near future. On August 20th, China Academy of Social Sciences and Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government jointly released the results of the project "Guangzhou Nansha Development Orientation and Strategy Research" completed by Academy of Social Sciences. The overall goal of Nansha is to build it into a new coastal city with international wisdom, a national-level new district with comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and a new hub of world-class urban agglomeration in the Pearl River Delta in about 40 years by the middle of this century. For this reason, the research group suggested that the central government upgrade Nansha to a national-level new district with comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and plan the development of Nansha New District in Guangzhou in three steps, so as to reach the development level of advanced international cities such as Hong Kong by 2050.
