New cards require activation.
The China Merchants Bank credit card customer service phone activation process is as follows.
(1) Call the 24-hour customer service hotline shown on the back of the credit card, select the appropriate language, and enter the cardholder's card number and query password.
(2) According to the voice prompts, select the card activation option under the "Credit Card Activation and Password Management" menu.
(3) Enter the last 3 digits printed after the signature field on the back of the cardholder’s credit card and press the # key to confirm.
(4) Enter the cardholder’s home phone number and press the # key to confirm.
(5) Enter the 6-digit number as the cardholder’s transaction password and press the # key to confirm.
(6) Enter the 6-digit transaction password again and press the # key to confirm.
(7) The transaction password is set successfully.
Activate credit card online
Take Bank of Communications as an example of how to activate a credit card through the Internet.
(1) First log in to the online banking page of the Bank of Communications credit card and enter the cardholder’s card number and query password.
(2) Please change your query password promptly after logging in.
(3) After your credit card initial password is successfully changed, please log in to online banking again.
(4) After logging in for the second time, please click "Credit Card Activation" and enter the last 3 digits printed on the signature line on the back of your credit card and your home phone number according to the prompts on the page.
(5) After successful activation, enter the 6-digit number as your transaction password according to the prompts.
(6) If you do not check the "Use password to confirm transaction" function on the application form, you can change the transaction mode to password signature after the setting is completed.
