(1) color. Lapis lazuli is usually blue. Good lapis lazuli is dark blue, pure, crack-free, fine in texture, containing calcite impurities, and can be made into jewelry. If white stone lines or white dots are intertwined, the concentration, purity and uniformity of colors will be reduced, and the quality of jewelry will be reduced. If you want to distinguish the color of lapis lazuli, you can take a lapis lazuli bead to be identified, soak it in hot water for ten minutes (remove the wax on the surface that may interfere with the identification), and wipe it with nail polish remover or alcohol. If it turns blue, it can basically be identified as a dyed product.
(2) texture. The texture of lapis lazuli should be dense and fine without cracks, and pyrite should be evenly distributed, like shining stars. The local distribution of pyrite will affect the texture of lapis lazuli jade, and the more obvious the crack, the lower the quality grade.
