Meg and the PTA
PTA is the abbreviation of pure terephthalic acid. PTA is one of the important bulk organic raw materials. Its main use is to produce polyester fiber (polyester), polyester bottle chips and polyester films, which are widely used in chemical fiber, light industry, electronics, construction and other aspects of the national economy and are closely related to people's lives. The main raw material of polyester is PTA.
PTA comes from petroleum. Naphtha (alias light gasoline) is produced through a certain technological process, and PX (p-xylene) is extracted from naphtha through a certain technological process. PX (formula 65%-67%) is oxidized (oxygen 35%-33%), crystallized, separated and dried to produce PTA (powder).
