Experimental finance refers to a branch of finance that uses computer technology to simulate real financial markets, such as stock market, foreign exchange market and futures market. Under the given market structure, by studying the behavior of agents at the micro level, the reasons for the formation of macro-characteristics of the market are revealed.
With the rapid development of computer technology, especially artificial intelligence technology, it is possible to quantitatively simulate and experiment the financial market, so a new branch discipline-experimental finance has emerged.
Authur, W. B., J.H.HollAgent, B.LeBaron, R.G.Palmer, P.J.Taylor, researchers of the Santa Fe Institute (SPl), used agent-based computer models to study the capital market and established ASM (Artificial Stock Market), which essentially pioneered experimental finance.
