The first half of this poem is a song from the twenty-four solar terms. The original sentence is "July has a slight summer heat, and beginning of autumn has a summer heat in August". It says that the two solar terms are July, while beginning of autumn and the summer heat are in August.
The second half of the sentence comes from Qin Taoyu's Chen Gong in the Tang Dynasty. The original sentence is: "Lin Chun sings loudly and plans to visit Yingzhou, and Zhang Fei is greedy for winning the tour." It means that Chen Houzhu has built the Lin Chun Pavilion on a large scale, which is as luxurious as Yingzhou. It doesn't think about national affairs all day, but just loves Zhang Guifei and indulges in beautiful scenery. In fact, it satirizes Chen Houzhu's luxury, ignorance and extravagance.
"Chen Gong" is a seven-character poem. The whole poem reads: "Spring is coming to a towering pavilion, and Zhang Fei is eager to win a visit in Yingzhou. What's more, I took the country as my own. I'm not sure Taixu is a corpse. The golden city is dark and broken, and the money jar is hidden with the dance. Who knows where the ancient palace is hateful and the well is full of rain. " The whole poem is about Chen Houzhu's wanton construction of pavilions, which led to the demise of the dynasty.
