Reduce the planting area of Robusta coffee, and turn the land with low coffee planting efficiency into other perennial cash crops such as rubber, pepper and fruit trees and annual crops such as cotton and hybrid corn.
Expand the planting area of Arabica coffee in areas where conditions permit. The ultimate goal of this strategy is to maintain the current perennial coffee planting area, or slightly reduce it to about 450,000-500,000 hectares, including 350,000-400,000 hectares of Robusta coffee (reduced by 654.38+ million hectares to 654.38+05 million hectares) and 654.38+ million hectares of Arabica. Compared with 000 hectares, it has increased by 60,000 hectares, and the total output is guaranteed to be around 600,000 tons, equivalent to 6.5438+million bales, which is 5 million bales less than the current Robusta coffee.
Reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Although the labor cost of Vietnamese coffee industry is relatively low and the coffee production is high, the cost of Vietnamese coffee is still high and it is difficult to be competitive. The main reason is that Vietnamese farmers buy and use a lot of chemical fertilizers and irrigation in order to increase production as much as possible, which reduces the investment benefit and increases the production cost. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the investment structure, reduce the input of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation, and not pursue the highest output to achieve the most considerable profit level. In addition, at present, Vietnamese farmers use a lot of chemical fertilizers, so they should replace them with organic fertilizers to improve the scientific and technological content.
Improve equipment and quality.
Improve processing technology and equipment, adopt Vietnamese national product quality standards in line with international standards, and improve product quality according to market requirements. At present, the processing capacity of Arabica coffee is poor, especially the peeling in the first process. Due to the lack of clean water and sewage treatment facilities in many areas, it will inevitably pollute the environment.
Produce and provide a variety of commodities except raw coffee beans to the market to meet the needs of consumers. At present, there are two manufacturers of instant coffee, one is Bianhe Coffee Factory under VINACAFE, and the other is Nestle (Thailand) in Vietnam. The current problem is to expand the market scope. In addition, we are also considering developing boxed liquid coffee.
Produce high-quality products
Produce high-quality products, such as organic coffee and specialty coffee. The climatic conditions in the mountainous areas of northern Vietnam are suitable, which is conducive to the growth of Arabica. The local ethnic minorities seldom use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and have the conditions to develop organic coffee, but the problem is that organic coffee needs authoritative certificates and market recognition, and most areas still can't reach this level.
Strengthen international market development
Reform the relationship between purchase and sale, strengthen the international market development of Vietnamese coffee, and pay more attention to developing the domestic market. At present, Vietnamese coffee has been exported to 50 countries and regions in the world, but it lacks traditional and stable trading partners. Vietnamese coffee has not yet participated in the futures market. At the same time, the domestic coffee market in Vietnam has not been fully developed. Although Vietnamese have a long history of drinking tea, the potential of young people drinking coffee is still considerable.
Keep the coffee industry developing steadily.
Vietnam's coffee industry has supported 600,000 farmers, and the number of people related to this industry has reached 65,438+0,000. Vietnam's coffee industry is still very weak, compared with the traditional coffee powers in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to take advanced measures in coffee cultivation, production, processing and trade to improve efficiency and develop Vietnam's coffee industry into a stable and sustainable industry.
