Basic physical and chemical properties of PVC
PVC has stable physical and chemical properties, is insoluble in water, alcohol and gasoline, and has low gas and water vapor leakage. It can resist any concentration of hydrochloric acid, less than 90% sulfuric acid, 50-60% nitric acid and less than 20% caustic soda solution at room temperature, and has certain chemical corrosion resistance; It is quite stable to salt, but soluble in organic solvents such as ether, ketone, chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon and aromatic hydrocarbon. In addition, POVC has poor light and thermal stability. When it is higher than 100℃ or exposed to the sun for a long time, it will decompose to produce hydrogen chloride, which will further decompose and discolor automatically, and its physical and mechanical properties will decline rapidly. Therefore, stabilizers must be added in practical applications to improve the stability to heat and light.
