1995 5438+00 in June, the airport began to build Terminal 2, which was listed as a national key project. 1 999165438+1October1,T2 Terminal of Phase II Project put into use. Terminal 2 is larger than Terminal 1 and can accommodate 20 planes at a time. Terminal 2 replaced Terminal 1 in the reconstruction process, and also handled domestic and international flights.
The main body of T2 wharf is 336,000 square meters, and the supporting works 16, including the wharf front, parking building and freight station of 464,000 square meters. After the completion of the terminal area expansion project, the annual passenger throughput of the airport can reach 35 million passengers, with 6,543,800+2,000 passengers in peak hours and 6,543,800+9,300 passengers per year. After the opening of Terminal 2, Terminal 1 was closed for renovation.
On September 20th, 2004, China Southern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines exclusively opened domestic flights in Terminal T/KLOC-0 (the two airlines still have international flights in Terminal T2).
