Lower homologues are insoluble in water. It is miscible with organic solvents such as alcohol, ether and ketone. Flammable. Acute toxicity is small, but it has strong irritation to eyes and nose, and high concentration will cause anesthesia. N-butyl acetate is an excellent organic solvent, which has good solubility in ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate butyrate, polystyrene, methacrylic resin, chlorinated rubber and many natural rubbers.
