The price of mahogany is upside down below the country of origin.
Nanma Town Garden Timber Market in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province is the largest timber trading market in Dongyang, covering an area of about 300 mu, where all kinds of timber are piled up. However, businessmen report that there is much less wood piled up here than before.
Corner of Beijing International Furniture Fair 2016 July
The person in charge of the timber market office said that last year and the year before last, the daily trading volume here was over 2,000 tons. Just like a big truck loaded with wood, a car can hold two cabinets of goods. This year's transaction volume has dropped by about one-third compared with last year, and the number of customers coming here has also decreased a lot.
According to the reporter's understanding, the overall price of mahogany has shown an upward trend this year, but the price has dropped slightly in recent days. For example, the price of African rosewood last year was 3,800 yuan per ton, and this year 1 month is 4,200 yuan. It rose to 4,500 yuan in April and May, and the highest price reached 5,200 yuan per ton in June. At present, the price has dropped to 4800 yuan per ton. Moreover, the price of mahogany is upside down, and domestic wood is cheaper than foreign wood. For example, the domestic price of Daluo rosewood is about 0.5 million yuan per ton/kloc-0, while the price in Southeast Asia is about 20,000 yuan.
According to industry reports, in 20 13 and 20 14 years, foreign capital or people outside the industry poured in to make mahogany furniture. After Woodenhead was fried too much, the domestic inventory was extremely huge. After the domestic inventory is particularly huge, some funds can't stand it and can only be thrown at a low price. Therefore, the domestic price is cheaper than that of foreign countries and cheaper than the supply of goods.
The export policy of mahogany affects the supply of goods
This year, some mainstream wood varieties used by mahogany enterprises were added to the appendix of the Washington Convention. All the tree species listed in the appendix are subject to trade control, resulting in wood merchants having no wood to sell and mahogany furniture enterprises having no wood to use.
A person in charge of a company said that the factory he runs stores about five or six thousand tons of rosewood, which is a relatively high storage level in the country. They were all brought in before June this year, because the export of rosewood in Laos was restricted recently, and then none of rosewood in Laos could be imported.
The export of mahogany is prohibited because it is listed in CITES of the Washington Convention, which is also known as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Prior to this, Dalbergia odorifera was listed in Appendix I, sandalwood rosewood, Dalbergia odorifera, Dalbergia odorifera and so on. Dalbergia odorifera from Belize and Dalbergia odorifera from Lushi are listed in Appendix II, and Dalbergia odorifera from Lushi (commonly known as Dalbergia odorifera) is listed in Appendix III. In September this year, the Conference of States Parties to the Washington Convention will submit a new rosewood control bill, which will expand the control scope of Dalbergia odorifera (rosewood) from logs and sawn timber to furniture and parts, and add Dalbergia odorifera (Myanmar rosewood), Dalbergia odorifera (Laos rosewood), Dalbergia odorifera (rosewood) and Dalbergia odorifera (rosewood) to Appendix II.
These woods are the traditional main materials of China mahogany enterprises. If trading is prohibited, it will have a serious impact on China mahogany enterprises. Many merchants in Dongyang Garden Timber Market told reporters that this year, the supply of mahogany is in short supply, and many varieties of mahogany on the market are not available.
This year, Laos and Cambodia in Southeast Asia, Benin and Gabon in Africa have successively issued export bans on mahogany. However, the import dependence of China redwood raw materials exceeds 90%. Of the imported mahogany, 47% comes from "Nanyang" and 52% comes from Africa. The promulgation of the export ban led to a sharp decline in the supply of mahogany in China market.
Many people in the industry said that the price of mahogany was fired to the peak at 20 13, and then it fell all the way, and it is still at a lower price. With many varieties of mahogany banned from trading, wood will only become scarcer. From the perspective of investment, there is more room for appreciation in the future.
The differentiation of the sales market is becoming increasingly obvious.
When it comes to mahogany furniture, many people have the impression that it is expensive, and a piece of furniture often costs millions. In recent two years, the overall market of mahogany is relatively low, and summer is the off-season of mahogany sales. What is the sales situation of these expensive furniture now?
In a mahogany enterprise, the reporter saw a very big sofa. It is understood that this sofa uses 150 tons of Lao rosewood, which took five years to make, and the sofa price is1800,000. Mr. Li, the person in charge of the enterprise, said: "In 20 13 years, there were indeed several people who came to bargain. They wanted to buy and bargain. But from 20 15, almost no one is interested in these two years. "
According to industry insiders, mahogany furniture with high-end materials, fine carvings and high prices sold well in previous years, but almost all of them were sold out in the past two years. And this store has a lot of mahogany furniture without market price. Mahogany is divided into five genera and eight categories according to density and other indicators, with a total of 33 varieties. For example, Huang Huali, Pterocarya microphylla and Ganoderma lucidum are all high-priced varieties, and there are also low-priced varieties such as rosewood and chicken wing wood in Myanmar. In the past two years, the best-selling products are all cheaper mahogany varieties, and the middle-grade materials are furniture that ordinary people can afford.
