Corn starch is divided into edible corn starch, medicinal corn starch and industrial corn starch, and the output and trade volume of industrial corn starch and medicinal corn starch are very small. There are no special quarantine requirements and regulations in the production and circulation of corn starch. China standardized corn starch earlier, and has formed clear national standards such as edible corn starch (GB/T8885-2008), industrial corn starch (GB 12309- 1990) and medicinal corn starch (CP-20690).
Under normal circumstances, enterprises above designated size and operating normally can produce in strict accordance with national standards. Judging from the spot market trade habits, buyers and sellers will also refer to national standards when signing supply and marketing contracts, but generally do not require health indicators.
Two, corn starch spot market trading standards
At present, the trading standard of corn starch spot market is mainly implemented according to Edible Corn Starch (GB/T8885-2008), and the national standard stipulates the quality index of corn starch from three aspects: sensory index, physical and chemical index and hygiene index. At the same time, there are clear regulations on its technical requirements, test methods, product inspection and marking, packaging, transportation and storage. The quality indicators adopted in the national standard of corn starch are the basic indicators of the food industry, and the inspection methods are relatively mature, and there are many inspection institutions with inspection qualifications.
In the actual spot trade, because corn starch is used in many fields, there is a pre-sterilization process to remove coliforms and molds, and because the inspection time of these two indicators is long (about 5 days) and the cost is high, the spot market does not require that these two indicators be tested in each batch.
