Legal basis: Provisions on Procedures of Public Security Organs Handling Criminal Cases
Article 231 The public security organ may, according to the needs of investigating crimes, inquire about and freeze the deposits, remittances, bonds, stocks, fund shares and other properties of criminal suspects in accordance with regulations, and may require relevant units and individuals to cooperate.
Article 233 Where it is necessary to freeze a criminal suspect's deposits, remittances, bonds, stocks, fund shares and other property in financial institutions and other units, it shall be approved by the person in charge of the public security organ at or above the county level, and a notice of assistance in freezing the property shall be made to inform the financial institutions and other units to implement it.
