Since its establishment 20 years ago, Beijing Natural Science Foundation has devoted itself to developing basic research in the capital, serving the construction and development of the capital, cultivating talents, building teams, creating a good environment and atmosphere for basic research, carrying forward the spirit of the science fund system and forming its own advantages and characteristics, relying on the good social and economic conditions in the capital and with the strong support of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Finance Bureau and other government departments. On the basis of efforts to improve the research level of funded projects and the level of serving the capital, we have carried out active exploration and practice in pioneering and innovation. We have established a system of free application, equal competition, democratic evaluation by peer experts, avoidance of confidentiality and project management, formulated a series of fund management methods to supervise and standardize the project implementation process, and established project funding systems such as project funds, natural science monograph publishing funds, foreign cooperation and exchange activities funds, and president funds. Through the unremitting efforts of the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Committee for four sessions, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Committee has established close ties with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation Committee, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and other administrative departments, and the fund's role and management level have been continuously improved, and its influence has gradually expanded.
