Activity background

There are 20.57 million people with hearing and language impairment in China, accounting for 34.28% of the total number of disabled people in China, including 870,000 deaf children under 7 years old. Due to drugs, heredity, infection, diseases, environmental noise pollution and other reasons, more than 30 thousand deaf children are added every year, which brings a heavy burden to society and families. Hearing and language barriers have seriously affected the life, study and social interaction of this group.

The state attaches great importance to the rehabilitation of deaf children. 1998, rehabilitation of deaf children is included in the national plan as a relief project. By the end of 2004, China had trained more than 220,000 deaf children under 7 years old, 20% of whom entered ordinary primary schools and kindergartens, forming a national capacity to train 20,000 deaf children every year. However, we must see that 70% of deaf children in China still live in poor families in rural or urban areas, and hearing AIDS are expensive, which makes it difficult for poor deaf families to afford. As a result, many deaf children who can recover after language training only wear hearing AIDS and miss the best opportunity for recovery, becoming deaf and causing lifelong regret.

Activity purpose

1 Carry forward the traditional virtues of helping the weak and the disabled in China and mobilize the whole society to carry out extensive relief work for the poor deaf children through the series of theme public welfare activities of China Relief Action for the Poor Deaf Children. Advocate all walks of life to give love and create a good social environment for caring for and helping poor deaf-mute children. Help poor deaf children to recover their listening and speaking ability, and promote the rehabilitation of deaf children in China.

Through a series of theme public welfare activities in China, the poor deaf children can get timely treatment, let them deeply feel the care and warmth of their arrogant families, and promote the harmonious development of society.
