Guilin Medical College is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is an excellent college for undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The first batch of pilot institutions of the "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program" project of the Ministry of Education is known as "the medical pearl shining in northern Guangxi".
The school, formerly known as Guilin Senior Midwifery Nurse School, was founded in 1935. 1958 was upgraded to Guilin medical college, and 1987 was renamed Guilin medical college. 20 14 was listed as the project construction unit authorized by doctoral degree, and 20 15 was approved to establish the postdoctoral research center.

The school covers an area of more than 850,000 square meters, including Lequn, Dongcheng and Lingui campuses.
