The participating doctoral students gave oral or poster reports on the four topics of "global climate", "regional climate", "sea-atmosphere interaction" and "atmospheric physics".
At the opening ceremony, Ding Yihui, a researcher at the National Climate Center of the China Meteorological Administration and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a wonderful special report titled "The Impact of Climate Change on the Water Cycle."
In addition, Professor Liu Zhengyu and Professor Hu Yongyun from the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, School of Physics, Peking University, also gave special lectures on the history of interdecadal climate change and global warming scientific research respectively.
During the forum, there were lively discussions among the participants, achieving the forum's purpose of promoting exchanges of young scientific researchers from different universities.
The participating doctoral students also conducted a mock defense of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund in groups, and were commented by teachers who had participated in the fund committee review, allowing the participating doctoral students to experience the key points of applying for fund projects.
At the end of the forum, awards for the best oral report, best posted report, and best scientific research team were awarded.
The participants agreed that this doctoral student forum promoted understanding and exchanges between doctoral students from different units and different fields, and reminded everyone not to conduct research behind closed doors. It was very meaningful and looked forward to continuing to hold it in the future.
