Yesterday, Huawei donated the Euler system to the Open Atomic Foundation, which is a non-profit independent legal entity registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is committed to the public welfare undertakings of the open source industry, ensuring that the sustainable development of the project is not affected by third parties, and seeking support and help from richer community resources through open governance, including raising and managing funds and providing legal and financial professional support.

Without looking at these technical terms, let's briefly experience Huawei's Euler system from installation to use.

1. Download image

Virtual machine installation is adopted here, and friends with conditions can also use physical machines. Official website downloads x86 type system image for backup, there is no link here, you can find it by searching.

2. Prepare the basic environment (the steps not shown are still the default steps)

Create a folder named OpenEuler, which is used to put Vmware virtual image files at the back and avoid putting them on the C drive.

Open the Vmware virtual machine software, create a new virtual machine, select Advanced Advanced Settings, and then create a virtual machine, as shown in the figure.

Customize the name of the virtual machine and save the file customization to the previously established folder.

According to the official minimum configuration requirements, pay attention to choose 2 cores CPU, at least 4GB memory and at least 32GB disk.

When finished, edit the virtual machine settings and load the downloaded Euler image into the system.

When finished, turn on the virtual machine to complete the new operation.

3. Start the installation

Select the first item after booting to install the operating system. (If it is a physical installation, it is recommended to use the second check. )

Wait for the system to enter the installation interface, and then select the language. I use Chinese to facilitate the demonstration here, and English is recommended in the formal environment.

Press the icon. If there is no special requirement, it will be the default. If the time zone is wrong, please refer to the icon and choose Shanghai. If there are software requirements, it can also be customized. I have the smallest device here.

In fact, this step is similar to the installation interface of CentOS operating system, and used friends should be familiar with it.

Enter the root password, which needs to be complicated, otherwise it will not pass.

Click on the top left corner to finish and start the installation.

Wait patiently for the installation to complete. ...

Restart until the restart interface appears.

Wait patiently for the startup, and you can go to the login interface and log in to the system with the previously set user name and password.

Get the ip address and use the following command to get it automatically.

Try to install a software and use dnf for package management (similar to CentOS8 here).

Of course, you can also use yum to manage packages.

According to reports, Huawei Euler openEuler operating system is developed based on CentOS open source system.

It is believed that Huawei has chosen CentOS, a global open source, as the basis for its in-depth development. CentOS red hat system is mostly used in the server field in China, and CentOS operating system provides a life cycle of 10 years. Every major version can almost accompany the whole life cycle process of related products. For domestic users, the transition from CentOS to openEuler operating system has greatly lowered the threshold and can even adapt to this process seamlessly. CentOS will no longer be maintained, and it is believed that more enterprise or personal servers will run on Huawei OpenEuler's operating system in the future.
