Bethune was a great producer. 1938, he volunteered to come to Yan' an, China to help China * * * production party solve the backward medical and health situation. After Bethune came to China, he performed hundreds of operations, treated countless wounded people, trained a large number of medical personnel with practical ability, and compiled many effective medical books. He laid a solid foundation for the medical care of China Revolutionary Army. Without Bethune's help, the casualties of the army would be much greater.
Besides, Mr Bethune was an honorable party member. In his view, it is the responsibility of all * * * producers to help the proletariat in semi-colonial and semi-feudal China carry out revolution, and it is also his responsibility. Only by helping China win the proletarian revolution can we consolidate the victory of socialism and make the world a better place.
So, he came to China, not far from Wan Li, and devoted his life to this land. If Mr. Bethune was not supported by the spirit of * * *, perhaps he could not have overcome so many difficulties and obstacles and come to such a difficult environment to help the poor China * * * production party.
Unfortunately, Mr. Bethune passed away on 1939. 193910/in late October, Mr. Bethune accidentally cut his left middle finger with a scalpel while operating on a patient. But he didn't stop for treatment, but followed the next operation and was finally infected. According to the normal procedure, Mr Bethune should receive medical assistance and rest. But Mr Bethune insisted on going to the front to rescue the wounded. He said: Don't treat me like an antique. I'm not that expensive. You should treat me like a submachine gun. I want to give my all for the China revolution.
In the process of treating the wounded in the front line, Mr. Bethune's wound deteriorated and eventually turned into sepsis and died. After Mr. Bethune's death, Mao Zedong wrote a book in memory of Bethune, describing in detail Mr. Bethune's great contribution in China.
